P.S you wouldn't want to know the full form for that abbreviation! (*winks*)
Well FTP had been in the arranged marriage loop for long and now finally met her Mr. Right! right next to her while she was out searching for him all over the world.
Suddenly I find almost everyone around me either in love, or potential love or soon to be engaged! Frankly it scares me a lot! I mean when I was finishing my bachelors this seemed like 5-6 years down the lane, lets cross the bridge when it comes. Now not only is the bridge in front of me but I am being told to jump it! instead of leisurely crossing it!
I met another of my school friend the other day and she has started dating again! Not that I am in a hurry to get hooked to someone, no don't get me wrong but when everyone around you is heading somewhere in their personal life, it really becomes a mirror of self evaluation!
Well I have been faced with a question regarding weddings; which is an important one if you are an Indian:
LOVE v/s ARRANGED!
Arranged simply means that your parents 'arrange' you and guy to meet, and if you are interested then you take the next step. Well it is a lot different than how it used to be during 'Sholey' times (bollywood movie released in the '70s) when you HAVE to marry the guy your parents choose and you meeting the person you want to marry is not important.
Well anyways coming back to today, kitty had the typical bollywood style romance (cyber way) with all the masala's involved including a trip to overseas! but more on that later and FTP had the traditional way, seeing the guys her parents arranged for her. They both have found their ahem! better halves and yes are incredibly happy.
I guess both ways are very different but it is difficult to pen down which is more risky than the other; as in even if you know the guy for like 8 years before you tie the knot, you might still have second thoughts later and same visa versa. But yes I guess both ways its almost similar, in the former case you might be the one convincing your parents and in the later case your parents would be convincing you.
But either case if you find the right guy, it doesn't matter how you two got together. It doesn't take years to fall in love, I guess it just take the right moment to.
Having said that I am quite happy where I am right now and I would probable presume whichever of the two it is for me, I will be happy just like my friends!!!
Love it :) Mwah !!
