And so my birthday nears...Tick Tock Tick Tock
My excitement with each passing year mellows just a bit more, why is that; I question? Is it because I have grown....... (nope cant say the 'it' word) less younger (lot better!), answer is - No! thats not the case at all.
I remember during my school days, my birthday was much looked forward to, I guess because that was the only day where we could have our way, that include not wearing the regular uniform but as we used to call it then 'color dress' (Lol! i.e any dress of our choice, the name inherited 'cause our school dress were shades of dull grey!). What made the day special was that we stood out from the rest, I had my choice of delicacy made by my mom, gave chocolates to everyone at school and to top it all, my mistakes throughout the day was excused.
The pattern is still the same, except that my friends don't settle for just a few chocolates, it takes a lot more to make my birthday successful. Every year my dad asks if there is this one thing I really want, and I always had an answer ready, ipod! car! Laptop! phone!. This year however the same question was asked and I was speechless, I had nothing to ask (never actually thought this was possible). I cant say I had everything I needed! but more or less : yes!
I have all the latest gadgets, phones to cars, I guess I have outgrown all those 'things'. I guess this year I want to keep all the friends I made, work and receive appreciation for the work I do. And all those things which sadly cannot be bought!
I so wish there was a supermarket where Jobs, careers can be bargained for, but Alas! we haven't caught up with that kind of world yet. Till then I guess this year I will gift my dad by saying Nope! there is nothing that I want this year
ummm....wait a sec! ipad has released!!!!
And the rest is history! :D
